Community Care annual spring conference
“Creating Hope: Developing Communities of Care for Children, Youth, Young Adults and Families”

March 23, 2010
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh
  • Presenters will provide information for health care clinicians, families, and communities to promote positive behavioral health and to address children’s behavioral health topics.
  • Workshop topics: adolescent substance use, engaging families in interventions, leadership in service plans, and integrating care for foster children.
  • Continuing education credit is available for mental health professionals, national certified counselors, psychologists, social workers, and educators who attend the conference.
  • Tuition is $95 for behavioral health professionals. The conference is free for consumers and the family members as well as medical residents and other students.

Mental Health Advanced Directive Training for staff and peers to assist BH consumers in completing an MHAD

A Mental Health Advance Directive is a legal document that is a tool for empowerment and personal recovery. It that allows a person to state decisions about their mental health treatment and preferences while having capacity to apply at a later time if it is determined they do not have capacity to make such decisions.

Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will receive a certificate indicating they have completed the Mental Health Advance Directive Training workshop. Presentation materials, forms, and assistance will be provided to each participant in order to accomplish the goal of providing residents of Allegheny County with meaningful and ongoing opportunities to complete their personal Mental Health Advance Directive.
